ET4Digital presents its first deliverable: Analysis of digital ecosystem in construction sector
Digital-Ecosystem

The ET4D project has released a significant deliverable detailing the analysis of digital technologies within the construction sector.

The report, titled "Analysis of Digital Ecosystem in Italy construction sector", is the culmination of Work Package 2 (WP2) activities. It explores the current state of digitalization in the construction sector and identifies the digital skills that trainers need to effectively guide SMEs through the digital transition.

To gather comprehensive insights, a mixed-method approach was employed, combining a literature review, online surveys, and national focus groups. This methodology ensured a thorough analysis of both the technological and educational dimensions of digital transformation within the construction sector.

Key findings from WP2 include:

  • Most used technologies: BIM, 3D design software, IoT sensors, collaboration platforms, and site monitoring technologies.
  • Emerging technologies with high potential: Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, AR/VR, and 3D printing (currently underutilized but considered strategic for the future).
  • Barriers to adoption: High initial costs, lack of internal skills, resistance to change, and insufficient training.
  • Trainers' skills: Good familiarity with basic digital tools, but gaps in more specialized tools (BIM, virtual reality, data management).
  • Training needs: High demand for training in applied AI, IoT, and digital simulation, as well as cross-cutting skills for designing digital learning modules and managing hybrid training environments.

This deliverable provides a crucial foundation for the development of realistic and modular training content in the subsequent phases of the ET4D project.
