Developing the ET4Digital Capacity Building Programme: Designing the Training Modules for Digital Construction Skills
digital-construction

ET4Digital is entering an exciting new chapter. Building on the successful completion of the Construction Digital Twin demonstrator, the transnational training for trainers, and the accompanying guidelines, the partnership is now fully focused on developing the Capacity Building Programme.

Central to this stage is the design of training modules that will form the project's backbone, equipping VET providers, trainers, and construction professionals with the digital skills needed to navigate the industry's ongoing transformation. Grounded in the outputs of the previous phases, the modules translate technical knowledge into structured, learner-centred content, with flexibility to be adapted across different national and organisational contexts throughout Europe.

The training modules cover the key digital skills that construction professionals need today, namely:

  • Digital technologies for construction and renovation, to enhance decision-making, efficiency, and safety in construction and renovation processes through digital technologies (IoT, sensor systems, AR/VR);
  • BIM (Building Information Modelling) for SMEs, to allow learning of BIM procedures, tools, and teamwork techniques that enhance productivity, collaboration, and decision-making throughout project phases.
  • Digital Technologies and Processes in the Building Environment, to increase readiness for cutting-edge digital technologies in the building environment, addressing existing knowledge and experience gaps on Digital Twins, AI, and how they work with BIM and other emerging tools (like drones, laser scanning, and augmented reality).
  • Removing cultural barriers to digitization in SMEs, to assist in identifying, addressing, and transforming organizational and cultural barriers that hinder the adoption of digital technology, fostering continuous innovation and collaboration.

The development is combining expertise, pedagogical know-how, and understanding of the real needs of construction SMEs.

What's next? Once the modules are completed, they will undergo a pilot testing phase with trainers and professionals from the partner organisations. This will allow the team to collect feedback, fine-tune the content, and prepare the Capacity Building Programme for wider dissemination.

Stay tuned for updates on this milestone phase of the ET4Digital journey.
